Jewelry Care
You've received your new, custom jewelry! Yay! Now what?
Well, we obviously want your jewelry to last as long as possible, so that means taking good care of your pieces.
Surgical Steel
- This is 316L surgical grade stainless steel, which is used in surgical instruments.
- It's durable, waterproof, and hypoallergenic, so you can wear it pretty much anywhere - even swimming or showering!
- However, if you want to keep it looking great longer, remove it when applying lotions or creams to your hands. We don't recommend sleeping in your jewelry, as it can rub or wear on your sheets while you sleep.
14K Gold PVD
- This is 14k gold coated surgical steel, but still highly durable. It should never turn your skin green or tarnish.
- Follow the same directions as above for the surgical steel.
Sterling Silver
- Sterling silver is 92.5% silver with another metal, usually copper.
- We don't recommend wearing this when you swim, shower, or bathe. Remove for sleep and put on after putting on hand creams or lotions.
- All silver will tarnish over time and with exposure to air and water. Use a silver polishing cloth or silver tarnish products to clean periodically.
14k Gold-filled
- This is a thicker coating of gold over brass. The gold alloy must make up at least 5% of the total product weight.
- We don't recommend wearing this when you swim, shower, or bathe. Remove for sleep and put on after putting on hand creams or lotions.
- To clean, wash with mild soapy water and a soft cloth.
14K Gold
- 14k gold is 58.5% gold and 41.5% alloy. This is the most expensive but also the most valuable option.
- Follow the same directions as above for gold-filled jewelry.
